The Olympic Countdown clock is ticking down the days until the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies on February 12, 2010.

In Vancouver, it remains the calm before the storm. We're all going around town on our pre-Christmas business, with the holiday season top of mind. I think that the the penny will drop with a very loud 'bang' on January 2nd, when we wake up to realize that this event is really, actually happening.

Some Vancouverites may be unready to face reality, but rest assured, those responsible for facilities, transportation and event planning have been working extremely hard for years to welcome the world.

A case in point is the recently unveiled Vancouver Olympic Village Plaza. This public space will be the central plaza meeting ground in the the Athletes Village in Vancouver. And the pictures indicate what a fantastic space it will be.

This is a fitting Olympic legacy that everyone will be able to enjoy.
