Food plays a big part of any family holiday or one-day trip outing. Children can be picky eaters at any age, and finding a family-friendly dining spot to suit all tastes and appetites can be a huge challenge.
Vancouver is justly famous for its wide and affordable variety of dining out options. This multicultural mix has produced some of the best restaurants of their kind in North America, and many of them are kid-friendly. Here are some of our travelling mom best recommendations for eating out with the kids and family - tried and tested by yours truly!

Planning a quick weekend escape or extended family holiday to Whistler? We've got some tips for you, whether you're coming for the Olympics or just some winter fun.
Things are heating up (temperature-wise too) as the Olympics approach and folks are getting anxiously excited. The hopes are high, and thousands of people have been working very hard to make things perfect for everyone - athletes, visitors, sponsors and locals too.
Go Canada Go!

This past weekend, our family enjoyed a free ride on the brand new (or at least, freshly borrowed from Brussels) Olympic Streetcar. The Streetcar runs between Granville Island and the Olympic Station of the still newish CanadaLine - a short, quick and child-friendly trip.
On our visit, the streetcar was packed full of locals and tourists enjoying the ride. The streetcar is fully accessible for strollers and wheelchairs - easy on and off onto the door-level platforms.
The 1.8 km distance is covered in just a few minutes, and mid-way through the journey, the two streetcars cross each other along the short route.

For some of us, the idea of planning a holiday and spending weeks together in a foreign land with our parents and children sounds like a new circle of hell in Dante’s Inferno. But, if your family relationships are solid and you can ride out the occasional emotional storms and historical family member behavioral patterns, the benefits of multigenerational travel far outweigh the downsides.
